I’ve been having fun with Alcohol Ink painting on aluminum scales! From truly abstract to butterfly wing paintings, these earrings are completely one of a kind.
All hand painted, these are so much fun! After painting, the scales need to cure for a few days, then I seal using varnish and a UV protectant. Finally, after they’ve dried completely, I add the ear wires, and maybe a tiny scale or other rings to accent them.
I love the randomness of the abstract paintings – sometimes I try to get them somewhat symmetrical, but honestly, a lot of the time, the ink just does what it wants to. I had the idea of the butterfly wings for some time, and love the way they turned out!
